Start of Northeast Monsoon (October 16, 2014)
 
The development of high pressure system over mainland China had shifted the wind direction over Luzon to northeasterlies, bringing cold and dry air over the northen part of the country.  This resulted to the lowering of the minimum temperature observed over the Extreme Northern Luzon area.  Furthermore, strong to gale force northeasterly winds have been observed over the seaboard of Northern Luzon.  These meteorological conditions normally signify the start of the northeast monsoon season.

ANNOUNCEMENT: MTTC Training

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) shall conduct a Meteorological Technicians Training Course (MTTC). The course shall beconducted for five (5) months, whole day session and scheduled to start on 05 August 2014. It shall be composed of theoretical and practical phases.
 
The course is open to PAGASA employees, personnel of other National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) and other interested applicants, who meet the following requirements:

A) Not more than thirty five (35) years of age, physically and mentally fit;
B) Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural and allied science, who have completed/earned units in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, college physics, chemistry and information technology; and
C) Pass the qualifying examination.
